Pediatric Hearing Evaluations
Although hearing loss is most often experienced by older adults, it is becoming more and more common among children. Whether caused by a sudden infection, genetic disorder, or exposure to a damaging noise, pediatric hearing loss is permanent but can be managed with the right hearing aid devices and technology.
Going to any doctor’s office can be stressful for a child, especially when they do not know what to expect. That is why the professionals at Bay Area Audiology go the extra mile to ensure that the children in our care feel comfortable and well taken care of. With our advanced diagnostic techniques and wide selection of hearing aid options to choose from, we will work hard to ensure that your child’s needs are met in a positive, friendly, and warm environment.
Hearing Loss is Unique. So are the Solutions.
At Bay Area Audiology, we take a customized approach to each and every one of our clients. We use state-of-the-art diagnostic techniques and equipment to understand the root cause of pediatric hearing loss so that we can recommend the right solutions. When it comes to hearing loss, there is no one-size-fits-all approach.
There are a number of different methods that can be used to diagnose hearing loss in children of all ages, including:
- Tympanometry
- Acoustic reflex thresholds (ARTs)
- Otoacoustic emissions (OAEs)
Each method provides information on the status of different portions of the child’s auditory system without requiring a response from them. We modify our protocols based on a child’s preferred level of participation to ensure that your child is comfortable while maintaining accurate results. Our staff is warm, friendly, and will go the extra mile to ensure that your child’s experience is a positive one.
If needed, we will also provide appropriate pediatric medical referrals and recommendations, and a comprehensive hearing evaluation report will be sent to your child’s pediatrician or specialist within 24 hours of their appointment time.
